JIP - Engine need optimal temperature to work well. If it is too cold, the engine will greedily devour fuel. Whereas if it is too hot then the engine power it will sag. Instead can overheat causing the cylinder head can be broken. Hence the need to always maintain a thermostat that can remain optimal engine temperatures.
Many people who rule out its presence, especially on older vehicles with carburettor fuel suppliers. Sometimes its presence even considered as a 'wedge' on the smooth circulation of water in the engine cooling system. Often this thermostat instead it removed from its place. Though this action is wrong because it will cause the engine too cold of temperatures needed.
How it works is quite simple thermostat, its function as a valve or faucet water flow from the engine to the radiator. Under conditions of water in the engine is still cold, the thermostat closes so that the water just circulates in the engine block just to the ideal working temperature is reached.
Ideal when working temperature is reached and creeping up to temperature rise (a certain temperature), the thermostat opens so that water circulates in the engine to flow into the radiator to be cooled. Then the cold water from the radiator to flow back into the machine.
Thermostat has a shelf life even though it is not certain as to how long this can last device. Some mechanics say from experience there are about 5 years old thermostat. That's why car owners should pay attention to the life of the thermostat and replace it with a new one if it is not optimal operation.
For those who would replace thermostat or for those who want to install the following Step
1. Remove the radiator hose first.
2. Remove the dome where the thermostat placed.
3. Clean the old sealer or packing
4. Attach the thermostat to no thermostatnya or for a broken thermostatnya unplug the old thermostat and replace it with a new one. Adjust to the specifications of the manufacturer.
5. Note the position of the thermostat device that will be installed. Make sure that the position is correct.
6. Bubuhi dome lip sealer on the thermostat cover to avoid leaks before pairing back in place. After that proceed to put sealer on the surface that is connected to the radiator hose.
Must Know!
Better cooler, or hotter the better, it is not a true statement all in choosing the specification thermostat. Should get rid of the mind to change the thermostat that opens at a lower temperature or even higher. Specifications for each different vehicle and best use, of course, use that in accordance with the specifications of the vehicle manufacturer's recommended that you wear.
